A Guide On How To Clean Various Home Floor & Tiles During Pandemic

New expectations and perceptions always come with the New Year, and we all are eagerly waiting to happily welcome it while keeping our fingers crossed. Starting a celebration requires excessive planning and cleaning. However, when it comes to cleaning, it is universally believed that social beginnings should always begin with a decent home clean, vibrant aroma, and honestly, what else could there be other than this.

We all know how important cleaning is and that a clean personal environment brings positive happiness, calmness, and prosperity. Be honest with yourself, when was the last time you did a thorough cleaning of your floors? It’s been months maybe; if yes, then you’re like the majority of us. Isn’t it? One more thing, look at the coincidence; with the arrival of Covid-19, one now had to compulsorily sanitize their home interior to make their living safe, more productive, and comfortable in their own home.

Although being confined to your home isn’t an ideal way to stay protected from the outside atmosphere. However, on the plus side, it gives you a great excuse to finish that cleaning project you’ve been delaying for a while.

When it comes to your floors, it’s crucial to realize that cleaning and disinfecting are two completely different things. Your cleaning can contribute to removing germs but does not actually kill them entirely. Cleaning reduces your risk of infection spreading, while to effectively eliminate germs altogether, specific alcoholic products are required to make the place clean and hygienic.

Antibacterial agents are used in disinfecting to remove germs on your home’s floor surfaces. However, bear in mind it does not completely remove the dead germs or clean the dirt. If you’re worried about how to keep your floors sparkling clean during a pandemic, your best bet is to combine cleaning and disinfecting in between them. First clean to remove excess dirt and dust and anything that can magnetize germs, and then disinfect to eliminate the remaining stubborn germs. It doesn’t matter whether someone’s sick at home or not, you’ll probably have to clean up.

What if you have a Carpet floor?

Carpeting requires a different deep cleaning process than hardwood, laminate, tile, and vinyl flooring. Swiff, microfibers, or brooms should be used on a regular basis to keep the floors free of dust, dirt, and debris. That keeps them clean and prevents additional scratches and discoloration on the floor over time due to the grounded grime.

We even suggest vacuuming with a soft-bristled brush attachment to get rid of stubborn dirt, debris, and dust precisely at least once, twice a week or a month. It’s even safer if you do it every day, as long as your vacuum doesn’t scratch the surface of the tiles.

What if you have a Hardwood floor?

If you have laminate or hardwood floors, use proper care when mopping. Since both forms of flooring options are easily affected by excessive moisture, avoid wet mopping in that case. Make sure you use a vinyl-plated cleaner or apply some apple cider vinegar by mixing it in warm water if your flooring is vinyl.

Choose an antibacterial solution to clean hard surfaces; you need to make sure it’s formulated for use on your flooring! Bleach is present in most surface disinfectants, which can cause significant damage and discoloration to your flooring. Instead, disinfect vinyl, laminate, and tile by making a solution of one gallon of warm water and a cup of white vinegar.

You don’t want to risk damaging or warping your hardwood floors by wet mopping them, so use a special cleaner. To remove any remaining moisture, dry the floor with a clean, dry towel after damp mopping.

What if you have Ceramic Tiles?

Ceramic tiles are among the most durable and ultimate options for the kitchen and bathroom. Maybe you’ve noticed why they look dirtier than the others as it is impenetrable to water and stains and works ideal for moist environments. Cleaning ceramic floor tiles, on the other hand, is remarkably easier, convenient, and effortless. Sweeping or vacuuming them, then mopping with a soft cotton cloth is the safest way to do it to get the luster you want.

What if you have Glossy Tiles?

Watermarks, grease, grime, and even fingerprints are notoriously visible on Glossy Tiles, often used in the kitchen and bathroom, and can become filthy quickly due to constant use. When cleaning off any food stains from cooking or watermarks from the tub, even liquid detergents will leave a visible stain that detracts from the high-gloss finish’s beauty. Rinse the tiles with clean water and dry with a tissue, rather than allowing them to dry naturally.

What if you have Porcelain Tiles?

Porcelain tiles are the preferred option for all commercial sites since they need little maintenance or touch up. However, but not necessarily, cleaning these tiles once or twice a week is required to extend their lifespan. Start polished porcelain tiles by vacuuming and then using a cleaning solution of 1/4 cup of white vinegar and mix with 2 gallons of warm water. Later on, scrubbing it off gently using a damp sponge mop or soft-bristled brush.
